INIA

We had the chance to visit Dave at his office recently.
Dave works at the INIA office here in La Serena. INIA stands for the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agropequarias. It is Chile's equivalent of the United States Department of Agriculture- Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS).

This is Dave's project board with all the things that he has been working on during his sabbatical. It is mainly a list of reports, proposals, presentations and scientific journal articles that he has a goal of completing during his nine months in Chile.

It was nice to get a closer look at what he has been doing here in Chile. We also went for an alterior motive. Dave's coworker Patricia had a gift for Evan. She knows of Evan's love of coins. She wanted to give Evan some of the coins that she has collected in her travels in South America.

Needless to say, Evan was more that thrilled to receive this gift. He said to Patricia, "Esto es el mejor dia en mi vida" or "This is the best day of my life!" I just love Evan's ethusiasm.

While at the office, we toured the gardens. We found some amazing flowers.

We are proud of Dave and all he has done here is Chile.  We are grateful for the opportunity we have had to travel with him here and experience this beautiful part of the world.
