On weekdays, the kids and I are here at home doing home school. We start at 8:00am and stop for a break around 11:30. The kids like to catch one of their favorite episodes in Spanish while Mom prepares lunch. This is a typical lunch for us...lots of fruit and bread. Our American nieghbors brought over some brownies which helped to spice up our lunch this day.
Evan usually finishes school quickly. While he waits for everyone else to get done, he plays Uno by himself. Some of his other pass times are racing and spinning coins or just running laps outside on the back patio. The older kids usually finish school sometime between 1:30 and 2:00.
Part of our school every day involves time on the computer to do our Spanish lessons. We have been using Rosetta Stone and have been really happy with that program. We are trying to learn Spanish as fast as we can so that we can better communicate with people. Andrew is crusing through the program. He is twice as far along as the rest of us.
We finally found someone who was selling wood. Dave lights a fire for us each morning before he goes to work. It has been so nice to be warmer.
BJ and Evan are watching a version of the "Rabbit and the Hare" that Evan has been studying this week in school. Our teachers from our elementary school let us check out all of our text books for the year. One teacher even made disks with the English teacher's edition for me to use. It has been such a help. We started school at the beginning of August so that when we have opportunities to travel for work we won't miss out on too much school time. The kids are doing so well and it is a big help that they are dedicated and self motivated.
I had a not so nice shower the other morning when the gas tank ran out while I still had conditioner in my hair. This is how we get gas for the house. The gas heats the water and cooks the food. These two tanks cost about $100 dollars each and we are told that with a family of six we should probably go through one a month. Our water heater heats on demand, so there is always nice hot water when you need it, except of course if the tank runs out. When the tank runs out the "gas man" brings new ones in his gas truck.
