The youth group here in Chile have a lot of fun. One thing that they like to do together is spend the day at the beach. Recently, Emily was invited to come to the beach with friends for the day. For most families here transportation does not come easily. If they own a car, which a lot do not, the husband will take it with him to work. There are collectivos or taxis which can be taken. These cost about a dollar a person to ride. The youth usually don't take the taxis because they either don't have the budget for transportation or they would rather spend their money in other ways. So, if these kids want to do something, they walk. From most houses up in town, it takes about an hour to walk to the beach. Each kids brought with them some money for lunch, about one or two dollars, which they pooled together to buy lunch: bread, ham and something to drink.

After the beach the kids walked back to Alejandra's house for a pijimada or pajama party.
