While Terrie was here, she spent time with the kids making noodle angel ornaments. She does such a great job with these and they turn out so cute.
She uses all different kinds of noodles...penne for the body, bow ties for the wings, macaroni for the halos and tiny noodles for the hair. She even made a salt dough that she rolled into little balls for the heads.
We bought a small artificial tree at our local Lider (Walmart). There aren't any real pine trees here. We are in a desert after all. Seeing as we won't be able to bring it home, we plan on giving it to one of our friends here in Chile when Christmas is over.
It is fun to decorate the tree in your pajamas the day after Thanksgiving.
For ornaments, Terrie made some paper cranes.
We added some finger puppet guanacos bought downtown.
This is Evan's noodle angel. Terrie spray painted them gold when the glue was all dry.
More finger puppets, this time of a sheep.
We also hung shells we found at the beach. These shells are all over the beach in La Serena. Some of them have a hole that was drilled by predatory snails that eat the clam. Sad for the clam, but it makes for a very cute christmas ornament.
We bought a few red and green balls to round things out.
I made an oragami star for the top of the tree.

Mom, this is where I bought your nativity. It was hand made by a local Chilean artist depicting the people of the Andes mountains.
When David took his parents to Santiago at the end of their trip, he bought this nativity for us. We wish all of you a very merry Christmas!
