After two days in Curico, we set off again further south. The destination: Conaripe, another 7 hours in Southern Chile. As we were driving, Dave noticed the sides of the roads covered with wild blackberry bushes.
Of course he had to stop and pick some. They were delicious. We were not the only ones who stopped for a free treat. We saw many other people picking on the roadside. Some were getting blackberries and others were picking rose hips to use for tea.
We finally made it to Conaripe. (That n in Conaripe is supposed to be an "en-yay". I am not sure how to get that on my computer). Dave had arranged for us to stay in this beautiful two story cabin on Lake Colafquen. We were just a two minute walk down to the lake. We went down to check it out.
The neighbor's pig greeted us on our way down to the lake.
Also, our other neighbor's little black puppy followed us along for our walk.
The lake was really beautiful. We got there just as the sun was going down.
The sunset lighting made the black and red lava rock which made up the beach to the lake even more impressive.
We played and rested as we watched the sun got down, enjoying the time to be together as a family.

Love the pig and so cute that Evan was scared of that monstrous puppy! Glad they became friends eventually!
