This past weekend we tried out a beach that we hadn't been to before called Totoralillo. During the summer months they charge cars $20 to get in and park. Now that the summer turist season is basically over, we were able to get in for about $5.
Isn't is so pretty? Dave took a hike up a nearby rock formation to get some great distance shots.
This beach had a peninsula right down the middle making two bays on either side.
We were glad that we didn't come here during the peak tourist season because this beach would have been full of people. We like to have a little space to enjoy the view. Aren't these grass umbrellas great?
We bought one umbrella and rented one so that we could spend a lot of time here without the worry of getting too much sun.
Dave found some capoa fruit on the cacti growing on the nearby hills.
This one has a red tint to it. I wonder if it tastes any different. Emily joked that maybe these were strawberry flavored capoa.
In the middle of the two beaches, they had built this cove for the little kids to swim in. Dave and the little boys had fun exploring in here.
The water was so clear. Here they have found some snails.
Dave found some uprooted kelp.
It makes a nice wig for BJ.
Evan likes to climb.
The sand on this side of the peninsula was so fine and soft. Evan and BJ found that it stuck very well to their wet swimming suits.
So they had a contest to see who could get the most sand to stick to themselves.
Andrew has decided that the beach is not his favorite place. He spent most of the time under the umbrella. Unfortunately, I think he is getting a jumpstart on being a teenager. We love him anyway.
Dave and I decided to give the water a try. That waves were nice, but the water was quite cold. I couldn't leave Chile without having a swim in the ocean. On all of our other beach trips I have only waded in the water.
